Plants annual, 18-55 cm tall, glabrous. Stem erect, simple. Leaves alternate, petiolate, crowded in upper part of stem, shortly petiolate; petiole 2-4 cm; leaf blade ovate-elliptic, 10-15 × 3-5 cm, membranous, with 2 or 3 setose basal glands, setose between teeth, lateral veins 7-9 pairs, base cuneate, margin crenate, apex shortly caudate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, racemose, 4-6-flowered; peduncles erect, 3-5.5 cm, stout. Pedicels 8-17 mm, slender, bracteate at base; bracts caducous, broadly ovate, ca. 3 mm, membranous, apex cuspidate. Flowers white, ca. 3.5 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, ovate, ca. 5 × 3 mm, apex mucronulate. Lower sepal funnelform, 2.5-2.8 cm deep, gradually narrowed into an erect spur 1.5-1.8 cm; mouth vertical, 1-1.2 cm wide, tip acute. Upper petal suborbicular, ca. 7 × 6 cm, apex emarginate, abaxial midvein slightly thickened, narrowly carinate; lateral united petals clawed, 1.6-1.8 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes broadly triangular; distal lobes lanceolate, apex acute; auricle absent. Filaments linear, ca. 3 mm; anthers ovoid, apex obtuse. Ovary linear, 3-4 mm. Capsule linear-cylindric, ca. 3.5 cm. Seeds few, brown, oblong, 3-4 mm, rugose. Fl. and fr. Aug. (Flora of China)
