Plants annual, (20-)40-60 cm tall, with few supporting roots, glabrous. Stem erect, slender; branchlets spreading, slender. Leaves alternate; petiole 2-4 cm, without basal glands; leaf blade gray-green abaxially, dark green adaxially, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, (3-)5-11 × 2.5-4 cm, membranous, abaxially glabrous, adaxially adpressed strigose, lateral veins 4-7 pairs, base cuneate, attenuate into petiole, margin coarsely crenate-serrate, teeth scarcely mucronulate, apex acuminate or caudate-acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, (1 or)2-flowered; peduncles subequal to leaves, 2-3 cm, slender. Pedicels 1-1.5 cm, slender, bracteate at base or below middle; bracts caducous, ovate-lanceolate, 3-5 mm, pedicels and bracts puberulent. Flowers pink, medium-sized or small, 1.5-2 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, ovate-orbicular, ca. 4 × 1.5-2 mm, apex long acuminate. Lower sepal navicular-cornute, 1.2-1.5 cm deep, gradually narrowed into an erect or curved spur; mouth oblique, tip acuminate. Upper petal orbicular, 7-8 mm in diam., apex retuse, rostellate, abaxial midvein thickened, cristate; lateral united petals not clawed, 2-lobed; basal lobes spotted, orbicular or subtriangular; distal lobes dolabriform, longer, apex rounded; auricle linear, elongate, inserted into spur. Filaments linear; anthers acute. Ovary linear, ca. 3 mm. Capsule linear, 2.5-3 cm. Fl. Aug-Sep. (Flora of China)
