Annual herb, 40-100 cm tall. Stems fleshy, erect, glabrous, branched in the upper part, with swollen nodes in lower part and with fibriform roots at base. Leaves alternate; lamina ovate, ovatoelliptic or oblong, 1.5-5.5 x 1-3 cm, obtuse at apex, cuneate or almost rounded at base, crenate and apically fimbriate at margin, adaxially dark green, abaxially pale green, glabrous on both surfaces; lateral veins in 5-6 pairs, arcuate, inconspicuous on both surfaces; petioles 5-25 mm long. Racemes in upper leaf axils, (1-)2-3-flowered; peduncles 1-2 cm long; pedicels ca 5 mm long, 1-bracteate in middle part; bracts linear, green, 2-3 mm long, persistent. Flowers golden yellow; sepals 3, lateral sepals 2, green, narrowly ovate, 5-6 x 2.5-3.0 mm, acuminate at apex; lip (lower sepal) broadly infundibuliform, 25-30 mm long, mouth obliquely truncate, 15-17 mm across, mucronate at apex, attenuately constricted to a spur, spur ca 20 mm long, incurved; standards (dorsal petal) rounded-reniform, 7-8 x 11-12 mm, emarginate at apex, dorsal costae carinate and beaked at apex; wings (lateral united petals) 22-28 mm long, 2-lobed, basal lobe small, oblong, distal lobe linguiform, slightly bifid at apex, inner margin appendaged, appendage auricle-shaped, stipitate at base, stipe 4-5 mm long. Stamens 5; filaments linear, slightly widened in upper part, ca 3 mm long; anthers ovoid, acute at apex. Ovary ca 3 mm long, erect, fusiform, beaked at apex.
