Plants annual, 30-50 cm tall, striate, glabrous. Stem erect or base prostrate, laxly branched, robust, naked and nodes swollen in lower part. Leaves alternate; petiole 3-6 cm; leaf blade pale green abaxially, dark green adaxially, ovate-lanceolate, 8-15(-20) × 2.5-5 cm, submembranous, with stipitate setose glands above middle, glabrous, lateral veins 9-11 pairs, curved, base cuneate, margin crenate-serrate or crenate, teeth incurved-mucronulate, apex shortly caudate or acuminate. Inflorescences axillary, subumbellate, 2- or 3-flowered; peduncles shorter than leaves, stout. Pedicels 1.5-2.5 cm, slightly elongate at anthesis, bracteate at base; bracts pink, ovate-lanceolate, 10-12 × 4-6 mm, thinly membranous, conspicuously cuspidate. Flowers pink, 3.5-4 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, broadly ovate or suborbicular, large, 1-1.5 × 1-1.4 cm, 5-veined, margin entire, apex shortly cuspidate, abaxial midvein narrowly carinate. Lower sepal broadly funnelform, gradually narrowed into a curved or involute spur 3-4 cm; mouth vertical, ca. 2 cm wide, tip acuminate. Upper petal suborbicular, 1.6-1.8 cm in diam., thinly membranous, apex retuse, rostellate, abaxial midvein thickened, cristate; lateral united petals clawed, 2-2.5 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes oblong-obovate, small, 7-8 mm, apex rounded; distal lobes broadly dolabriform, 1.2-1.3 × 1-1.2 cm, apex obtuse; auricle inflexed, subreniform. Filaments linear, ca. 5 mm; anthers ovoid, apex obtuse. Ovary erect or slightly curved, fusiform, ca. 5 mm. Capsule linear-cylindric, 2.5-3 cm.
